Actalent Engineering Technician in York, Pennsylvania
Job Title: Engineering TechnicianJob Description
This role involves development from initial design, manufacturing of prototypes, running experiments and collecting data, and testing in the field. The Engineering Technician plays a crucial role by providing technical expertise, performing experiments, collecting data, carrying out various tasks, and providing feedback and suggestions. The role involves conception, design, and prototyping on the floor, encompassing the full cycle. Notably, this role involves a significant amount of time (50%) using SolidWorks, more than typical engineering technician roles. However, it remains a hands-on position, not a desk job.
Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise in support of development processes.
Perform experiments and collect data for analysis.
Engage in the conception, design, and prototyping phases on the floor.
Utilize SolidWorks for design and manufacturing tasks.
Operate hand tools (drills, drivers, etc.) and basic shop tools (press, mill, lathe, etc.).
Maintain an effective working pace to help the team complete projects on-time.
Stay flexible and easily redirect efforts in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Perform hands-on fabrication and troubleshooting of assembly processes and test stands.
Contribute to problem-solving for product and prototype manufacturing.
Take detailed notes of assembly steps and testing records.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in SolidWorks.
Hands-on tools and design for manufacturability.
Brazing experience or EPA Certification.
Ability to read blueprints.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Certificate from a technical school.
Ability to operate hand tools and basic shop tools.
Experience in maintaining an effective working pace in a team.
Flexibility in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Skills in hands-on fabrication and troubleshooting.
Problem-solving abilities for product and prototype manufacturing.
Detailed note-taking skills for assembly steps and testing records.
Work Environment
The position offers a 4-day workweek with 10-hour shifts from Monday to Thursday, providing every Friday off. The team currently includes one other engineering technician and four assemblers. The work environment is hands-on and involves working with various tools and equipment in a dynamic and fast-paced R&D setting.
