Job Description
What You'll Do: As a Deli Department Manager at Festival Foods, your responsibilities will include:
Leadership & Training: Lead, support, and reinforce Festival Foods culture and performance expectations. Provide thorough and consistent training for new and current deli associates, manage staff schedules, and support associates’ professional development. Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to enhance team performance.
Staff Management: Partner with Human Resources to recruit and interview candidates, extend job offers, and manage staffing levels. Ensure effective onboarding and retention strategies, including follow-up training at 30, 60, and 90 days post-hire.
Operational Management: Oversee deli labor goals, inventory management, and pricing accuracy. Place orders with vendors for special and holiday items and maintain proper signage throughout the deli department.
Guest Service Excellence: Address guest concerns, resolve issues, and ensure exceptional service by living the boomerang principle. Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the deli department.
Profitability & Compliance: Manage gross profit goals, shrink control, and ensure adherence to all safety, food safety, and company policies. Document policy violations and conduct corrective actions in collaboration with HR and Store Director.
Additional Duties: Prepare coaching sessions, performance reviews, and other documentation. Ensure accurate timekeeping and attendance records for deli associates.
Honor Commitments:Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
Support the Team: Other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For: To succeed as a Deli Department Manager, you should have:
Education & Experience: High School Education or equivalent, with at least 5 years of leadership experience (including 2 years in a managerial role) preferred. Experience in retail, restaurant, or food service is preferred.
Skills & Knowledge: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and collaborate with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. Strong understanding of retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising. Proficiency in technology and computer use.
Safety & Compliance: Comprehensive knowledge of safety requirements and company policies. Ability to apply safety training and operate equipment such as hand jacks, slicers, and fryers. Must have or obtain a WI Certified Food Manager License (certification cost covered by Festival Foods)
