Job Title: Youth Care Professional

Department: Residential Treatment

Position Summary: Supervise the safety and well-being of youth in care at all times, fostering physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of each individual.

Gateway Longview’s Residential Treatment Services is a therapeutic intervention for youth ages 12-18 and supports them in developing the skills needed to successfully live with their families or in the community.

Compensation

$18.00 per hour for Full-Time, with $.25 increase after 6 months

We are currently hiring for full-time only.

Primary Responsibilities

• Actively engage with youth in therapeutic and daily activities

• Council youth in matters of personal conduct, hygiene, appearance, safety, social skills, academics, and decision making

• Proactively prevent or manage a crisis situation in a therapeutic manner

• Transport youth to medical appointments, family visits, and community activities

• Attend required staff, supervisory meetings, and treatment team meetings

• Fulfill other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Ability to build rapport with youth based on healthy boundaries, effective communication and mutual respect

• Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, compassion, patience, and active listening

• Ability to effectively work with individuals from a diverse array of cultural backgrounds, beliefs, customs, and lifestyles

• High School Diploma or GED

• Current NYS Driver’s License

• Ability to physically restrain if required

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Theology, Social Work

• Demonstrated experience working with youth in professional or volunteer capacity
