Human Resources Representative

The Human Resources Representative is responsible for performing the daily administrative functions of the Human Resources department by utilizing software to process payroll, maintain accurate records, administer benefits, and onboard new hires. This position also performs various duties to support employee communications and events, administers required government reporting and maintains compliance in accordance with all laws and regulations as it applies to Human Resources and payroll.
Job duties
- Utilizes and maintains an HRIS system to complete functions such as, payroll processing, employee records, applicant tracking, onboarding, benefit records and reporting, etc.
- Performs various duties relating to payroll processing, which includes, preparing payroll data and payroll changes, calculating and preparing local, state and federal quarterly payroll taxes.
- Tracks leave of absences, prepares and explains documentation associated with leaves such as FMLA and disability.
- Supports the hiring and onboarding processes by maintaining records for applicant tracking, preparing materials, pre-employment processes, onboarding new hires, communicating policies and benefits to new employees, conducting continued new hire orientation, and releasing surveys.
- Maintains personnel records to ensure accurate records concerning applications for employment, hiring, training, terminations and related information often of a confidential nature.
- Performs benefits administration to include open enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
Assists in the maintenance of compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
Skills and Abilities
- Moderate understanding of laws and regulations affecting the human resource management function
- Proficient communication -- in person, over the phone, and via email
- Ability to multi-task, problem-solve and strong attention to detail
- Proficient math and computer skills
- Minimum of two years of human resources and HRIS (Human Resource Information System) experience (preferred)
Associates degree in human resources, business administration or related field (preferred)
