The Finance Manager -Portables is a key member of the Portables product group team. Under the direction of the General Manager and Vice President – Portables, this newly created team is focused on driving, nurturing, and expanding Generac's presence in portable power and at the same time, embodies a relentless dedication to innovation, customer satisfaction, and market leadership across all facets of portable power generation products.

The Finance Manager - Portables plays a key role in the ownership, compilation, analysis, and communication of financial reporting, forecast/budget and critical accounting around channel incentives. In addition, this role leads the team’s processes and continuous improvement efforts, while working closely with Sales Operations to monitor inventory, purchasing and OTS.

This role has a dotted line reporting relationship to the VP - Finance for Consumer Power to ensure process adherence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance

  • 6-7 years of related experience

  • Financial modeling, specifically around forecasting & strategy

  • Prior experience with PowerBI or similar business intelligence tools

  • Strong analytical skills and experience leveraging data to drive decisions

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively relate data to coworkers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Public accounting experience

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • Previous experience with SAP or equivalent ERP

  • Manufacturing experience

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting & Analysis for the Portables product line:

  • Owns financial reporting compilation, review, and communication to Portables team, as well as Consumer Power leadership.

  • Lead the creation, analysis, and communication of portables-related related financial metrics, statements, and variances working closely with the Portables leadership team, and Sr. Director of Finance – Consumer Power.

  • COPA allocation assistance, improvement, and expansion for increased accuracy in customer and channel P&Ls.

  • Build out areas of critical analysis including but not limited to, standard cost tracking by SKU, COGS variance reporting, cost roll impact standard reporting.

Forecast & Budgeting:

  • Participate in Forecasting and Budgeting key areas of the Portables business including, but not limited to, DRA, promotions, operating expenses, credit card fees.

  • Track actuals to budget and forecast for key channels, customers and products on a daily basis.

  • Develop reporting to capture variances to forecast for sales, margin, mix, operating expenses, and other non-accrued line items.

Demand Planning Support & Alignment:

  • Works closely with the Consumer Power demand planning team to understand the demand forecast, compiling the appropriate risks and opportunities.

  • Ensure alignment of demand forecast and financial forecast, communicating differences to the Consumer Power finance team.

Cash Flow:

  • Build out reporting of and metrics related to Raw Materials & Finished Goods inventory – receipts, sales and production.

  • Develop timely and actionable reporting and analysis on these key metrics, highlighting trends, potential pitfalls and making recommendations.

Metrics Reporting & Forecast tracking:

  • Owner, creator, and analyzer of key non-financial metrics including, but not limited to, market share, placement (digital & physical), product line vitality, on time shipping (“OTS”), etc.

Process Improvements and Continuous Improvement (“CI”) Champion:

  • Maintain a pipeline of projects, work with CP CI lead to drive forward.

  • Oversee PEP for the Portables team, lead meetings, communicate gaps, focus on long-term PEP pipeline.

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
