Victims Assistance Center Outreach Coordinator/Advocate in Watertown, New York

Job Summary: Provides prevention education to students, professionals, and community members on the topic of sexual assault, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and healthy relationships. Works with clients who have experienced sexual assault, abuse, or harassment to ensure their immediate and long-term needs are met.Job Responsibilities:· Provide Prevention education to school systems in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties using an approved curriculum regarding healthy relationships and personal safety.· Provide Prevention education to professionals, community service groups and community members that includes but is not limited to safe intimate partner relationships, sexual harassment, sexual harassment in the workplace, sexual abuse, sexual assault, and services available to survivors.· Develop and facilitate all community and agency education programs including the Victims Assistance Center bi-annual New York State Department of Health approved training for staff and volunteers.· Assist in the planning and implementation of activities developed by members of the local partnered agencies in our coordinated community response to Sexual Assault.· To provide all agency direct services to clients that include but are not limited to: advocacy (all types), counseling, intake, information, referral, paperwork for orders of protection & custody, court accompaniment, and interfacing with the Criminal Justice and Social Services system when needed.· Maintain records and collect statistics as required.Job Requirements:· Must be able to work well and communicate with adults and children of diverse ages, races, and backgrounds.· Must be able to work in stressful situations and utilize self-care methods.· Must be able to deal with a variety of emotions under stressful situations and be able to work with people who may be very upset.· Must be able to meet on-call requirements.· Must be able to work with a variety of people, including clients, families and professionals.· Must possess strong organizational and communication skills.· Must have the ability to work well with co-workers and multidisciplinary team members.· Must be able to adapt well to the structure and environment of the CAC and satellite offices.The candidate is required to be highly motivated and to possess excellent writing and computer skills. The position is full-time with benefits.
