Nexstar Media Group Editor in Washington, District Of Columbia
DC News Now, a dynamic Nexstar Media Inc. station in Washington, D.C., is seeking a talented Non-Linear Editor to enhance its rapidly expanding news team. As a Non-Linear Editor, you will be responsible for crafting compelling show opens, teases, pre-production content, and special project packages using Adobe Premiere Pro. This role demands creativity in storytelling, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and flexibility in scheduling. Collaboration with executive producers and other newsroom staff is essential, especially during breaking news events. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in professional live broadcast atmosphere, proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro Suite, and a detail-oriented mindset capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
Job responsibilities include:
Ingest, transfer and compiles various media into Adobe Premier editing software.
Compose compelling, informative and accurate news stories from video and audio resources.
Ability to multitask in a time sensitive and rapid, fast-paced newsroom environment.
Works with producers, photographers and managers to ensure broadcast quality and journalistic integrity, and Nexstar’s legal and standards are met.
Organizes and strings together raw footage into a completed content according to scripts or instructions for newscasts and other programming
Reviews assembled footage on screens or monitors to determine whether corrections are necessary
Determines the specific audio and visual effects necessary to complete assignments
Selects and combines the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story
Confers with producers, executive producers, reporter and anchors to discuss assignments, work product and desired effects.
Performs other duties as assigned by Production Manager and management team.
The Pay rate for this role is $24.00/hr. Other compensation includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K match, Vacation and Paid Parental Leave.
