The Hispanic Studies Department at Whitman College is seeking candidates for a one-year position in global Hispanic cultures, including but not limited to Latin American, Iberian, and US Latinx cultures. The department especially welcomes applications from candidates with expertise in 20th- or 21st-century film, visual media, or multimedia production. The successful candidate will be hired at the rank of visiting assistant professor, beginning August, 2025. A Ph.D. is required upon starting the position.
The successful candidate should be prepared to offer courses at all levels of Spanish language and teach advanced courses in film, visual media, or multimedia production emphasizing the global characteristics or circulation of contemporary hispanic cultures. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English is required. The teaching load for this position is five courses.
