Schedule: 5x8 day schedule, Monday - Friday* (1 hour lunch break) *Per operational and client needs - may require on call responsibilities (night and or weekends) Summary: Our Medical Laboratory Technician performs waived, moderately complex, and/or high complexity clinical laboratory tests and analyses of human blood, urine, and other body fluids to obtain data for use in the diagnosis, management and treatment of disease and injury: accountability may include one or more of the following disciplines: prenatal blood tests, chemistry/immunoassay, coagulation, hematology, microbiology, immunology, toxicology and/or urinalysis. You Will: Operate and maintain standard lab instruments and equipment Perform, analyze, interpret, and confirm tests Perform some manual testing along with complex cases (at Level II) Report test results by electronic systems Monitor, control and assess ongoing test conditions, specimen quality, chemical and biologic reactions, and instrument function Correlate quantitative, biochemical, physiologic and morphologic data to verify results Become proficient with new analyzers and procedures Ensure the accuracy of test results based on strict adherence to established standards, procedures and regulatory requirements for test analysis, quality control, and quality assurance Follow all safety and bloodborne pathogen/infection control guidelines and regulations for specimen handling and chemical use Keep current on regulatory requirements Participate on committees and task forces as needed *Ability to be on-call, as needed, for calls during nights and weekends Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications Education/Certifications Level I H.S. diploma or equivalent and proven expereince training as a Medical Lab Specialist (documentation of training appropriate for testing (MLT cert), or bachelor's science degree in chemical, physical, or biological science preferred Level II Associate degree in medical laboratory technology or laboratory science and pass the MLT Generalist examination, or bachelor's science degree relevant to role, preferred OR Complete a US military course in medical laboratory procedures, earn the laboratory technician occupation specialty, and pass the MLT Generalist Exam Skills and Abilities Level I 3+ years of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory assistant II experience in Chemistry/Immunoassay, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Blood Banking, Serology, Microbiology, and/or Clinical Microscopy. Familiarity with Quality programs, processes, and tools Ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels, including peers, team members, supervisors, managers, and other departments Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Self-directed, open to new learning experiences Ability to multitask while maintaining quality and efficiency Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment Level II 5+ years of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Chemistry/Immunoassay, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinaly
