Idaho National Laboratory is hiring an Advanced Gas Reactor Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in our Fuel Development, Performance and Qualification Department department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.

You will work closely with the principal investigators within INL and across the nation to support the Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor (AGR) project and other advanced fuel projects to support INL's missions and goals in nuclear fuel development.

The postdoctoral researchers will work with world experts in Post Irradiation Examination (PIE), Material Properties (MP) and Modeling and Simulation (MS) to support fuel nuclear fuel development, performance and qualification activities. You will develop and extend finite element models of AGR and other fuel type experiments. You will develop and model fission product release rates as a function of reactor conditions. Also, you will develop and model rudimentary ML models to capture TRISO particle performance characteristics from experimental measurements. Lastly, the post-doctoral research associate will measure and model uncertainties and produce recommendations for programmatic partners.

• PhD in Nuclear engineering, computational science, material science/engineering, chemical/mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics or related field completed within the past 5 years

• Experience creating Finite Element Models of experimental systems

• Experience with nuclear fuel performance

• General familiarity with TRISO nuclear fuel composition

• Proficiency in C /python. Experience with version control software (git, svn).

• Familiarity with machine learning algorithms
