Burns & McDonnell Staff Transmission Engineer - Transmission (Multiple Locations) in Vancouver, Washington

Burns & McDonnell has an exciting opportunity in our Transmission and Distribution Group for a Staff Transmission Line Engineer. The Staff Transmission Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting transmission plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Perform design of high voltage (69-345kV) transmission lines projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.

  • Perform transmission line design using PLS-CADD and other industry design software.

  • Working knowledge of NESC, RUS, and other industry codes and standards, with the ability to interpret applicable client standards, prepare project design criteria, and provide technical guidance to the design team.

  • Prepare construction documents including plan and profile drawings, structure loading drawings, and foundation assembly drawings.

  • Modify and review transmission components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by project leadership.

  • Ability to attend project site visits or provide field construction support.

  • The ideal candidate will be able to build and maintain strong relationships with clients as well as provide technical leadership, guidance and instruction to other team members.

  • Experience in extra-high voltage (500kV ) and/or HVDC is a plus.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering from accredited program.

  • 3 years related transmission line design experience (completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience).

  • Successful completion (i.e.passing) FE or EIT preferred.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in scheduling and budgeting.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Consulting or utility experience preferred.

Compensation

$100,000.00-165,000.00 Annually

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
