The Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at SUNY Poly invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in the field of materials science. This is a full-time, one-year position with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability.
We are seeking a highly motivated researcher with expertise in materials science, with particular focus on advanced materials manufacturing and characterization, computational materials modeling, additive manufacturing, or nanomaterials. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty, students, and external partners to conduct cutting-edge research, publish in high-impact journals, and contribute to ongoing projects within the department.
Description of Duties:
Conduct independent and collaborative research in materials science.
Design, execute, and analyze experiments or simulations.
Prepare manuscripts for publication and present findings at conferences.
Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research activities.
Assist with proposal writing to secure external funding.
Salary: $50,000

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated expertise in techniques, e.g., electron microscopy, finite element analysis, or other relevant areas.
A strong record of peer-reviewed publications.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with nanomaterials for semiconductor/sensor technology.
A proven track record of successful teamwork in research settings.
