Actalent Field Service Technican in Urbandale, Iowa

Job Title: Field Service Technician (Per Diem and Travel Bonuses!!)

Job Description

As a Field Service Technician, you will travel primarily to customers in Latin America to assist with the installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment. You will perform start-up and service calls to extruder plants, ensuring the equipment operates correctly. You will collaborate with other service technicians, the engineering team, and the assembly team while responding to service calls for client orders, questions, feedback, and parts. You will inspect the installation of production lines, including electrical connections and transitions, and partner with the sales team to support product development and prospects. Documentation and report writing for all client site visits will also be part of your responsibilities. Maintaining strong customer relationships by following up regularly to ensure optimal equipment performance is crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to Latin America to assist with equipment installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

  • Perform start-up and service calls to extruder plants.

  • Collaborate with service technicians, the engineering team, and the assembly team.

  • Respond to service calls for client orders, questions, feedback, and parts.

  • Inspect the installation of production lines, including electrical connections and transitions.

  • Partner with the sales team to support product development and prospects.

  • Document and write reports for all client site visits.

  • Maintain customer relationships by following up regularly.

Essential Skills

  • Fluent in Spanish with the ability to discuss technical terminology

  • Experience with HMI interfaces and VFDs

  • PLC programming

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical knowledge

  • Experience as a service technician

  • Exposure to mechanical and electrical components

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical field (preferred)

  • Team player with strong communication skills

  • Curiosity and a good personality fit with others

Work Environment

You will travel 25% of the time internationally, with destinations including Argentina, Mexico, and the Philippines, mainly around Latin America. You must have a passport and a clean background . The position is based onsite in Urbandale, working with two other Service Technicians and reporting directly to the supervisor. You will interact with the Engineering, Assembly, and Sales teams. The company prioritizes not overburdening employees with travel and ensures clients provide excellent hospitality during travel. The team is laid back, and you will have the flexibility to build your own day. Multiple earning opportunities are available, including bonuses for each travel instance. All travel hours are paid, and there is an opportunity to collaborate with senior technical engineers and contribute to product development.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
