PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Provides administrative structure to the secondary activities program through effective organization, communication and leadership.

Education:
Masters Degree in education, sports management, or related field required.
Masters Degree in Educational Leadership preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
Activities Administrator Authorization and Evaluator Approval required;
Iowa PK-12 Administration Certification preferred
Experience:
- Progressive leadership and management experience in the field of education or sports management to include administration, teaching and/or coaching.
Equipment:
Office equipment such as cell phones, multi-line phone systems, fax machines, copiers, and computers.
Athletics and activities specific equipment including but not limited to scoreboards, sound systems, streaming devices, and field maintenance equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Assist the director with supervising and coordinating the 7-12 activities program, to include Athletics and the Performing Arts.
Coordinate the staffing for the activities program, including interviewing candidates for athletic coaching and performing arts directing positions. Make recommendations to the Director of Human Resources for additions, deletions and changes as necessary; including recommendations for extra duty pay schedules for coaches and other activity sponsors.
Prepare and coordinate consistent eligibility rules for all students in Athletics and the Performing Arts as well as other information in the district approved Parent/Guardian & Student Handbook distributed to all students and families, most notably the UCSD Activities section and in accordance with Board Policy 510 – the Co-Curricular Eligibility Code.
Develop and manage the necessary forms to support all programs.
Assists in scheduling all requests for transportation.
Cooperates and collaborates with the Building and Grounds Department in proper maintenance of facilities used for student activities.
Serves as a point of contact with other schools, school districts, athletic and activity associations, leagues, conferences, and official assignors.
Serves as a member of district leadership teams and is expected to attend team meetings unless otherwise excused by the superintendent or his/her designee. Meets with building leaders as needed.
Assists with supervising all ticket sale events connected with the Athletic and Performing Arts programs and assumes responsibility for proper handling and accounting of monies involved.
Verifies the health requirements of all athletes prior to participation such as sports physicals and required concussion documentation.
Assists with managing competition and event results, historical records, and acknowledgements, including the planning and supervision of recognition programs at the program and district level.
Responsible for overseeing the operation of the Activities Website – www.j-hawks.com. 13. Assists with preparing, administering and providing budgets for the various Athletics and Performing Arts programs in cooperation with the District Business Office.
Approve requisitions for needed equipment and supplies in conjunction with the Principals and the District Business Office.
Act as liaison to the Urbandale Boosters, Inc.
Coordinates, schedules, and oversees district facilities usage, including the planning and coordination of internal and external scheduling issues related to practices, events, and competitions.
Assists with the recruitment and management of event staff and volunteers.
Assists in the management of game day/event operations, and oversees and manages gameday and event operations in the absence of the Director.
Maintain a reliable attendance record.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics & Activities.
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
Manages event operations workers and support staff. Athletic and Activities department employees, coaches, and directors.
Provide input to building administrators regarding supervision and evaluation of performing arts programs and staff.
Coordinates and provides supervision at practices, events, and activities.
Evaluates athletic coaches, performing arts directors, and provides feedback to event staff.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking, bending, stooping and lifting weight up to 50 lbs.
Drug, tobacco, and alcohol free while working.
Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
Able to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Majority of work day is typically split between working in an office setting and at athletics and activities facilities such as courts, fields, and auditoriums.
Extensive travel both in and out of the School District as required.
Weekend and evening hours are required.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
At-will employee.
12 Month Position.
Per Board Policies and administrative guidelines.
Performance evaluated annually.
