JOB SUMMARY

Job Profile Summary

Performs specialized engineering and/or project management duties related to one or more functional areas that may include: pipeline system planning and analysis, surge analysis, operating pressures and overpressure protection calculations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Conduct Steady State and Transient Pressure analysis for liquids operations:

  • Conduct surge analysis modeling for commercial and growth projects. Validate MOP calculations and communicate any changes.

  • Review and evaluate data related to overpressure protection setpoints, sizing and installation requirements. Communicate changes and results, escalating deficiencies appropriately. Assist in design and specification of new/modified overpressure protection mitigations.

  • Provide support to project managers, field operations and other groups as needed to promote pipeline integrity and educate others on operating pressures, overpressure protection mitigations, etc. Provide support to data collection efforts focused on setpoint and pressure data.

Provide technical and/or engineering assistance on matters including but not limited to:

  • Equipment/system design

  • Pipeline sizing and evaluation­

  • Pipeline control

  • Pipeline facility design, construction, operation, and maintenance

  • Policies and procedures

  • Process Safety

  • Direct, perform and review and/or approve project management activities including but not limited to:

  • Review work by engineers regarding equipment efficiencies, hydraulic calculations, valve and pipe sizing and gas flow analysis.

  • Research, analyze, prepare and/or approve information including but not limited to:

  • Engineering studies

  • Governmental rules, regulations, codes, and standards

  • Pipeline and/or measurement system analyses and recommendations

  • Hydrocarbon processing and/or measurement bid proposals

  • Construction and/or measurement contracts

  • Cost estimates

  • Material specifications/selections

  • Oversee analysis and evaluation of various pipeline systems and review recommendations for improvements related to capacity, operating costs, and system operation. Act as a subject matter expert to the organization for various engineering activities; mentor less experienced engineers

  • Recommend new processes and formulate new ideas; take lead role during implementation of new processes

  • Anticipate changes in work demands and identify assignments or training to meet those demands.

  • Oversee utilization of manpower and equipment resources

  • Assess, schedule, and prioritize projects on customer needs and value to the organization

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field and the following job-related experience preferred:

Work Experience

Working knowledge of Synergi Pipeline Simulator or similar software preferred.

  • Experience and training related to:

  • Transmission/gathering pipeline operations

  • Gas measurement and regulation activities

  • Processing and/or storage operations

  • Company/governmental operating and safety procedures

  • Pipeline stress/strain analysis

  • Industry best practices and design philosophy

  • Experience and knowledge of engineering design and criteria for natural gas, liquids and/or NGLs in pipeline systems

  • Experience at this level is typically attained with ten or more years of experience in engineering, operations and/or project management

  • Experience achieving goals and developing employee/team strengths, exhibiting a positive example and influence that leads to employee, project, and stakeholder successes

  • Experience in use and function of applications such as: Microsoft Excel, Project, Access, Word, etc.

  • Experience researching and preparing project materials and design specifications, contracts, agreements, budgets, engineering studies, and other relevant reports, forms, and correspondence

  • Experience identifying, researching, evaluating, and prioritizing operational problems and determining appropriate action/response

  • Experience with and knowledge of pipelines or hydrocarbon processing and related facilities design, construction, operation, and maintenance

  • Experience with material failure and structural analysis and thorough knowledge of industry standards and governmental regulations

  • Experience reading and interpreting governmental regulations, blueprints, contracts, manuals, specifications, surveys, charts, load studies, and other relevant reports and correspondence

  • Experience reviewing and approving complex engineering drawings and material

Expected Salary Range

$119,000.00 - $179,000.00
