Job Title: Electromechanical Technician

Job Description

Production Technicians will accurately and safely assemble electromechanical assemblies in accordance with drawings, written, or verbal instructions. They will inspect and test subassemblies, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and participate in quality and safety programs.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand bill of material structure; escalate errors or discrepancies to appropriate personnel.

  • Visually inspect components for flaws/damage and escalate issues to appropriate personnel.

  • Assist with miscellaneous tasks such as packaging finished goods, material handling (kitting), warehouse cleanup, and organization.

  • Maintain company values and commitment to quality and safety.

  • Communicate ideas and facts in a professional manner to all stakeholders.

  • Perform repetitive tasks and sit or stand for long periods of time.

  • Possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.

  • Upload component firmware according to written instructions.

  • Adhere to the company’s redline process to document any as-built changes.

  • Maintain accurate accounting of project materials and report discrepancies.

  • Rework and/or repair equipment and products as instructed.

  • Participate in the development of work instructions, including writing simple work instructions, cutsheets, or assembly notes.

  • Safely use advanced tooling such as power tools and CableEye.

  • Assist in the development of tools/jigs to facilitate assembly processes.

  • Operate and maintain test fixtures, devices, and test cables.

  • Perform field service as needed.

  • Proficiently navigate 3D CAD/e-drawings to aid assembly.

  • Perform full system cold checks using schematics.

  • Obtain company-sponsored high-voltage electrical safety training to perform hot checks for new systems.

  • Possess advanced proficiency in the layout, routing, and termination of wires for UL 508A electrical panels.

  • Possess proficiency in building cables/wire harnesses conforming to IPC 620 standards.

  • Assemble 24V safety circuits such as e-stops, light curtains, status lights, and sensors.

  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and take a leadership role in continuous improvement activities.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting for electromechanical assemblies.

  • Assume a leadership role on first article projects.

  • Act as a leader for the production team, upholding company values, ethics, and commitments to quality and safety.

  • Occasionally work with the engineering department on proof of concepts.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of assembly or building experience.

  • Mechanical assembly and cable harness assembly.

  • Proficiency in IPC 620, wire harness, and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to use hand and power tools.

  • Reading and understanding blueprints/schematics.

  • Soldering and testing circuits.

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical subassemblies using various fastening methods.

  • Ability to torque fasteners to proper specifications and sequence.

  • Routing cables and securing wiring throughout systems.

  • Attaching labels or name plates to assemblies, components, or cables.

  • Measuring dimensions to verify proper clearance of parts.

  • Using appropriate tooling/fixtures to aid in proper assembly.

  • Testing for electrical continuity using a voltmeter.

Work Environment

Work in a large warehouse/production/manufacturing facility. Individual work stations are currently under construction, using hand and power tools to assemble mechanical components. Regular lifting of 40 pounds is required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of TUALATIN, Oregon.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $35.00/hr.
