Actalent Automation Engineer in Tualatin, Oregon

Job Title: Sr. Automation EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a passionate Sr. Automation Engineer to join our team and help us enhance our manufacturing processes. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing automation solutions, integrating robots for machine tending, sorting, and assembly, and identifying opportunities to deploy additional automation throughout our factory.

Responsibilities

  • Develop concepts and build work cells to achieve automation goals.

  • Implement automation solutions from concept to commissioning.

  • Collaborate with management and Jr. Engineers to solve unique industry problems.

  • Design electrical schematics, build panels, and handle machine wiring.

  • Program PLCs (Codesys, Automation Direct, Siemens, Beckhoff) and work with ladder diagrams, structured text, and continuous function charts.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot automation systems to ensure efficient and effective operation.

  • Work closely with highly skilled tradesmen in both office and climate-controlled manufacturing settings.

  • Integrate with various departments such as marketing, IT, and customer service to ensure successful implementation of automation projects.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.

  • 8+ years of related automation experience in a consumer goods manufacturing environment.

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design, PLC programming, and building panels.

  • Proficiency with solid modeling software and advanced communication protocols.

  • Experience with motor controls, pneumatic and hydraulic logic, and industrial robots.

  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics.

  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting, troubleshooting and working with equipment and robotic cells.

  • Experience with PLC programming and editing, particularly Codesys, Automation Direct, Siemens, Beckhoff.

  • Robotics experience, specifically with Fanuc robots.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with HMI programming.

  • Knowledge of Rockwell Automation systems.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and creativity in addressing industry-specific challenges.

Work Environment

You will be working in a manufacturing setting which includes both office and climate-controlled environments. The role requires hands-on involvement with equipment and robotic cells. Dress code is business casual. Benefits include 2 weeks PTO, 6 sick days, and holiday pay. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
