Summary & Qualifications:

Summary

The position provides administrative and educational leadership in the development and continuous quality improvement of the Nursing Department and various allied health courses and partnerships, including developing new opportunities and resources, facilitating processes related to curriculum development and program outcomes, and representing the Department at the statewide level with relevant organizations and agencies.

Qualifications

Doctorate in Nursing (Preferred)

Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) (Required)

Between 5-10 years of related experience (Required)

CPR instructor certification within 6 months (Required)

Five years' experience in educational management and/or administration (Required)

Valid, unrestricted Michigan Driver's License or ability to obtain by start date (Required)

Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan (Required)

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification (Preferred)

Experience with national accreditation processes (Preferred)

Experience teaching collegiate nursing courses (Preferred)

Essential Responsibilities

• (Critical) Provides administrative and educational leadership, including but not limited to: strategic planning, program development, curriculum development, program review, budget preparation, and analyzing current trends in health care to continually improve program quality.

• (Critical) Coordinates internal and external accreditation and program review processes.

• (Critical) Ensures department budget planning and business plan development to efficiently utilize the financial resources of the college and promote innovation in the department. Manages budget.

• (Critical) Facilitates review of all student transcripts to assure graduate requirements are being met.

• (Critical) Coordinates annual schedule of classes; teaching schedules; and full-time and part-time faculty course loads to ensure maximum course efficiency.

• (Critical) Advises students on curriculum, academic programs, employment, career goals, and other matters. Supports faculty as needed during academic advising.

• (Critical) Facilitates development and maintenance of records such as annual reports for accrediting agencies, program budget reviews, student health forms, criminal background checks, licensure results for both practical and associate degree graduates and utilization of compliance software.

• (Critical) Resolves conflicts in complex issues concerning students, faculty, and staff.

• (Critical) Represents the Department within the community and at the state level through contacts and relationships with business, clinical facilities, industry, government, associations, education partners, advisory committees, accrediting agencies, etc.

• (Critical) Participates in student recruitment, advisement and retention by working with student services, public relations, hiring agencies and others.

• (Critical) Develops and implements standards and policies governing students and program issues in conjunction with faculty.

• (Critical) Supervises others in accordance with NMC's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, recognizing employees; addressing performance problems or gaps.
