Program Manager, Design
Position Summary
Under general leadership,the Program Manager, Design hasresponsibilities that include ensuring engineering team is meeting program and department deliverables in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”
This position is on-site in Torrance, CA.
Essential Functions
Oversee engineering programs to ensure projects are meeting deliverables for function, cost and timing
Identify program deliverables and put together a plan to meet them
Ability to manage multiple programs and deliverables at the same time
Know program status and ability to present status to senior management
Work cross-departmentally with Manufacturing, Quality, Design Studio and international design team to ensure business is operating efficiently
Manage indirect reports in engineering team to meet deliverables
Ability to resolve issues systematically, with root cause identification
Familiar with product development processes and familiarity with product releasing
Support development of work instructions for manufacturing
Support sourcing activities
Occasional travel required to support testing, supplier visits or issue resolution
Performs other duties as assigned
Collaborates with Design and Production Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality and Production teams
Plans, executes, and initiates process improvement
Evaluates existing drawings and 3D models of assemblies and processes
Develops testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs
Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure deliverables due to manufacturing and operations processes are tracked and handed off, such as design reviews, EBOMs.
Works in a cross-functional team environment exhibiting attributes of a strong team player, one who is respected but also a respectful leader with the ability to work with other functional groups to achieve company-wide goals
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent field
Eight (8) or more years of related experience in engineering, or related field
Automotive experience
DFSS or similar issue resolution methodology experience
Project management experience
Preferred Education/Experience and/or Certifications
Experience with Porsche air cooled engines
CATIA, or similar CAD software
Skills/Abilities and Attributes
Self-motivated and able to perform tasks and projects with little supervision
Strong diagnostic skills and ability to solve problems that consider cost, timing, manufacturing constraints
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment
Ability to work effectively in a small group of focused and talented engineers
Good verbal and written communication skills (clear and concise technical writing)
High level of computer literacy (Powerpoint and Excel)
Experience with data analysis and interpretation
Ability to express ideas clearly and actively listen to others
Team oriented, with a strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to meet multiple deadlines
Excellent time management with an ability to balance multiple projects and timelines
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and collaborative skills with the ability to prioritize efficiently and effectively within and across departments
Ensure that all stakeholders understand the company's vision, short and long-term goals, and ensure that goals are met within specified deadlines.

Physical Demands/Work Environment
Must be able to work in a seated and/or standing position for extended periods
Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms at computer keyboard for extended periods
Must be able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move with up to 10 lbs. of force
Must be able to wear proper PPE to protect against exposure to exhaust gases and noise
Must be able to continuously perform repetitive tasks; possess manual dexterity
Must be able to travel for business, including occasional travel by vehicle and commercial airplane
Must be able to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments – all seasons
Must be able to work non-standard working hours as required
As required, must maintain a valid California Driver’s License with a good driving record and appropriate insurance limits and/or be insurable under the Singer’s company vehicle insurance policy
Compensation
The starting salary range for this position is between $111,600 - $139,500 per year, plus an annual bonus plan. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
