The Role

Global Regulatory Operations & Internal Controls (GROIC) and Enterprise Crisis & Business Continuity Management (ECBCM) are dynamic and global teams. Across its global footprint, GROIC and ECBCM work with all business lines and geographies providing critical support to the bank. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Initiatives, the Manager oversees and coordinates employee engagement and communication activities globally for GROIC as well as supports in project management and/or implementation for new initiatives across the GROIC & ECBCM organization. The position requires someone who is a strong communicator and partner with a big picture focus, strong organizational skills, is a problem solver and has a comfort partnering with leadership, management, employees, and stakeholders.

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Oversee the execution of the Employee Engagement strategy initiatives and participates in regular Employee Engagement meetings within GROIC/ECBCM and GO

  • Reviews current initiatives to determine sustainment, current needs, program re-design and executes initiatives and changes

  • Monitors event progress by tracking engagement/freedback, resolving problems, providing event analyses and recommending program updates

  • Provides additional project support on strategic initiatives as assigned, and in partnership with the Director, Strategic Initiatives.

  • Supports and/or develops, executes, measures, and sustains strategies inclusive of change management, communication, and employee experience to enhance GROIC/ECBCM’s employee journey and enable GROIC/ECBCM’s objectives

  • Builds strategic presentations and communications that focus on providing insight into goals, strategy, programs, processes, and vision of executive leadership, strengthening executive and employee experience.

  • Develops strong relationships with key stakeholders to become a trusted and strategic partner in the identification and execution of transformational and/or continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to AML/ATF and Sanction risks and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, the Enterprise-wide AML/ATF and Sanctions Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or Business Management or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Communications/Marketing and/or Project work

  • Excellent written and verbal skills required to prepare communications and interact effectively with internal and external parties Marketing, Communications and Employee Engagement experience

  • Strong editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Excellent Project Management skills

  • Strong Strategic Influencing and Partnership skills

  • Thorough knowledge of the Bank's interactive systems including Excel, PowerPoint and Word;

  • Results oriented, highly motivated with a keen ability to influence others

  • Self-reliant and pro-active approach to work

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to demonstrate highly developed presentation skills

  • Consistently demonstrating self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management, and Scotiabank’s Core Values

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. No travel domestically/internationally/globally.
