The Director, Global Supplier Management Program, is part of Global Procurement Services (GPS) a dynamic and collaborative team focused on establishing standards for effective supplier management globally, ensuring standardization, governance, and overall program effectiveness, in compliance to OSFI B10 regulations.

As the Director, you will be responsible for implementing and governing the Scotiabank’s supplier management standards and practices for ongoing monitoring for suppliers and contracts, aligning to the requirements of internal policies and procedures, as well as regulators globally. Reporting to the Vice President, Enterprise Supplier Management and Procurement Strategy & Operations leader, you will play a critical role in managing across all levels of the bank to educate, collaborate and to build a global supplier management program that is fit for purpose, and effective in managing the Bank’s most critical and important suppliers, with governance and oversight across to all contracts and suppliers. This role will also own and build technology and processes to drive adoption, compliance and efficiencies in executing against the supplier management standards.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Leads the Global Supplier Management Program team and related operations to deliver services against the overall program mandate, including ongoing monitoring of suppliers and contracts globally

  • Owns and governs the bank’s global supplier management standards and practices (including supplier segmentation model) for ongoing monitoring of all suppliers and contracts

  • Thought leader and mature the program in line with key stakeholder feedback, industry best practices, and evolving regulatory expectations

  • Oversees the effectiveness of the program and ensures adherence to the responsibilities outlined within the program through established metrics and confirms compliance to the mandate

  • Leads a forum to share key insights on critical and important suppliers and contracts

  • Serves as the central point of contact for other Enterprise Programs, such as TPRM, Regulatory/Audit etc that impact the mandate

  • Drives standardization across the processes, tools, and templates needed to establish supplier management and supplier governance across the Bank

  • Contribute to a high-performance, collaborative work environment that attracts, motivates, and develops, team members by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy, and promoting growth opportunities.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • University degree and postgraduate qualifications, or equivalent combination of education and Supplier management experience

  • Expert knowledge with supplier lifecycle management

  • Understanding of the risk appetite for the Bank

  • Good understanding of the procurement process and sub-processes (e.g. Sourcing, Third Party Risk Management, Negotiation and Contract Management, Supplier Relationship Management, Purchasing and Payment).

  • Proven ability to lead multiple priorities, adapt to constantly changing business environment, and drive initiatives to completion.

  • Proactive with strong organizational skills and demonstrated accountability.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate across a broad spectrum from detailed level to senior executives.

  • Solution oriented, with strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
