Purpose:

As a Data Governance Specialist, you will collaborate closely with business teams to comprehend their functions, gather requirements, and propose solutions. Your responsibilities include designing and building Data Observability and Governance capabilities aligned with our HR Data Strategy. This encompasses Data Catalogs, Data Lineage, Data Profiling, and Quality using advanced cloud technologies in Azure/GCP. You will partner with the Data Platform team to ensure data reliability, scalability, and availability standards are met. Your strong knowledge of Data Governance will be crucial in managing diverse stakeholders and collaborating with counterparts in Canada and globally to initiate and drive beneficial projects.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Data Governance frameworks to enhance data quality and ensure consistent data management practices across the organization.

  • Implement and oversee Data Governance policies and procedures, ensuring they align with regulatory requirements and business objectives.

  • Manage the Data Lifecycle, including classification, storage, retention, and deletion, to ensure data integrity and compliance.

  • Collaborate with Data Office and Data Steward, liaising with data owners to maintain data governance standards and resolve data-related issues.

  • Utilize Data Governance tools to maintain data catalogs, data lineage, and metadata management, facilitating easy access to data assets.

  • Lead and execute Data Governance initiatives, collaborating with data stewards and business units to achieve data consistency and standardization.

  • Stay abreast of rapidly evolving technological trends, self-learn new technologies, and understand the business and technology strategies.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

  • Proven expertise in Data Governance frameworks and understanding of data protection regulations and compliance.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement Data Governance policies and procedures that ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability.

  • Proficiency in SQL, data mining, and data observability best practices.

  • Ability to lead Data Governance initiatives and projects, including the development of data dictionaries, business glossaries, and reference data management.

  • Familiarity with Cloud environments and data governance tools.

  • Bilingualism in Spanish/English is an asset.

Work Arrangement: This position is currently a Hybrid role. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
