Job duties :    The Network Security Analyst plays a critical role in managing and optimizing network infrastructure, emphasizing network configuration, performance, enhancements, and network security.  This position combines network operations with a strong understanding of network security to ensure the robustness and integrity of our systems.

Examples of work performed:

  • Designing, testing, and implementing secure operating systems, networks, and applications to meet evolving requirements

  • Preform vulnerability scanning and identifying patches or fixes to be implemented.

  • Conducting risk audits and assessments on identity management systems, data access, and data storage to provide guidance for hardening and achieving compliance with governing frameworks.

  • Conducting training sessions to promote network protocol and security awareness.

  • Collaborating with IS teams to achieve network availability with a focus on security measures.

  • Assisting in identifying and mitigating network security threats by monitoring and analyzing system access logs.

  • Implementing security protocols and measures to safeguard network integrity.

  • Providing guidance and cross-training to colleagues.

  • Planning for security backup and system disaster recovery.

    Education and experience:  

  • Associate degree in a relevant field such as cybersecurity, computer science, data science, information security or related field

  • Minimum 1 year experience in network security, systems administration, threat detection & log analysis tools, or identity management.

  • Experience in incident response procedures, including identification, containment, eradication, and recovery.

  • Experience with security incident documentation including incident details, response actions taken, and lessons learned.

  • Ability to prepare incident reports for management review.

  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills to identify vulnerabilities, analyze security risks, and propose effective solutions.

    OR

    Equivalent experience may substitute for education as follows:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2 years of experience in network security roles.

    Preferred Certifications:

  • CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Offensive Security Certified Professional, Microsoft 365 Certifications

    Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

  • Proficiency in network troubleshooting, strategy, and design, with a strong grasp of network security concepts.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex task efficiently, with a keen eye for security concerns.

  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally and collaboratively with staff at every level of an organization.

  • Effective communication skills regarding network infrastructure and security.

  • Strong analytical and organizational capabilities.

  • Initiative, judgement, and discretion in handling sensitive matters.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of security protocols, coupled with the ability to implement, and maintain network security measures.

  • Understanding of IT systems, security best practices, and judicial branch network protection.

  • Familiarity with servers, software, networking hardware, and related infrastructure.

  • Experience in assessing the effectiveness of security solutions and making recommendations for improvements.
