Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is hiring for a Chief Engineer Position at Community Medical Center. This is a Full-Time, Day position

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid NJ Drivers License required.

  • NJ Red Seal Boilers License required or obtained within 12 months of hire.

  • Oral and written skills.

  • High school or trade school Diploma.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience or equivalent.

  • Microsoft Suite Experience. (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)

  • Ability to read operating and service manuals.

  • Ability to read schematics and technical specifications.

  • Successful completion of site and departmental orientation.

  • UST A&B certification holder or completed within 6 months of hire.

Preferred:

  • NJ Blue Seal Refrigeration preferred.

Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable remove when posting):

  • Valid NJ Drivers License required.

  • NJ Red Seal Boilers License required or obtained within 12 months of hire.

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions remove when posting):

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00am 4:00pm each day

  • Full-Time

Essential Functions:

  • The Chief Engineer is responsible for coordinating all operations and efforts of the Boiler Room.

  • The Chief Engineer shall maintain boilers, blow tubes and discharge sediment, regulate feed water and condensate pumps, lubricate equipment, perform work such as repack valves as needed, change piping, clean and paint in boiler room as needed.

  • The Chief Engineer shall also perform minor repairs such as replacing work gaskets, tightening joints, and replacing defective meters.

  • The Chief Engineer is responsible for reviewing and maintaining the engineering logbook.

  • The Chief Engineer shall perform boiler chemistry and adjust chemical feed accordingly.

  • The Chief Engineer changes filters on a cycle in accordance with established preventative maintenance schedule.

  • The Chief Engineer assigns work, schedules shifts, and assigns/covers PTO for Stationary Engineers in line with departmental budgets.

  • The Chief Engineer ensures compliance with state codes and requirements of accreditation as well as regulatory agencies. Schedules Boiler inspections, accompanies inspectors, and maintains testing logs for review.

  • The Chief Engineer monitors fire alarm panel for trouble or alarm conditions. Works with vendor for annual fire alarm testing.

  • The Chief Engineer ensures cleanliness of the Boiler room and Control Room.

  • The Chief Engineer updates Facilities senior leadership on any operational issues.

  • The Chief Engineer communicates company goals, acknowledges good work, and quickly resolves disputes between staff.

  • The Chief Engineer calculates cost, material, labor, and time required for projects.
