JP Amazon Grocery Fulfillment (GF) owns warehouse operations (called as Under-The-Roof, UTR) including forecasting, capacity management and program management for Amazon Fresh business, which provides same day and next day grocery delivery service to the Kanto region of Japan as of 2023. We are looking for a talented and proactive Senior Program Manager to lead establishment of cost-optimal operation model, executing strategic cross-functional activities with various stakeholders across process/rule to technology. The Senior Program Manager embodies an ownership and a responsibility to deliver remarkable result via transparent project/stakeholder/risk management, negotiation with senior leaderships and prioritization. The role is located in Tokyo, Japan.
The Senior Program Manager will own entire programs to improve variable cost reduction via Tech enhancement, process improvement leading benchmarking study with EU/NA and be responsible for: 1) Establish overall operational strategy and focus area in GF program, getting an agreement with senior leaderships across Japan to Continental EU with United Kingdom and North America, 2) Lead critical initiatives and experiments (e.g. further optimized operation/delivery model establishment as grocery logistics) and 3) Manage cross-functional programs, collaborating with internal/external multiple business partners (e.g. Business, Finance, Tech, EU/NA counterpart, Compliance, Engineering/Facility).
In addition, the role is expected to lead the cultivation of collaboration work with WW stakeholder PM teams in CEU/UK and NA. Enhancement of the Ways of Working and the definition of role and responsibility across local to central team are also key elements in the role.
Key job responsibilities
Establish overall operational strategy and focus area in Grocery Fulfillment (GF) program, providing a long-term perspective and high level context for business/technology choices with considerable risks and trade-offs.
Design the ideal process, rule and mechanism via understanding the inter-dependencies of the business/operation problems.
Deliver new and critical solutions to the GF model getting an agreement from teams with competing priorities in joined up solutions.
Set a clear plan with measurable success criteria, and lead the project involving multiple teams and communicate the progress and outcome clearly.
Manage the lifecycle of a complex cross-functional program, collaborating with internal/external multiple business partners (e.g. Business, Finance, Tech, EU/NA counterpart, Compliance, Engineering/Facility)
About the team
Grocery Fulfillment (GF) team, Amazon Grocery Logistics (AGL), Japan is responsible for in-warehouse operations for Amazon Fresh, which has launched since 2017 in Japan and provides an ultra-fast scheduled delivery service to Kanto region (a part of Tokyo, Kanawaga, Chiba, Saitama prefecture) of Japan as of 2025. JP GF is belonging directly to International (CEU/UK+JP) AGL Ops pillar. The GF team contains of three functional sub-pillars: 1) Under-the-Roof (UTR) Operations, 2) Supply Chain Management (SC) for capacity management with Inbound flow optimization and 3) Program Management across operation process, quality, labor planning and Tech enhancement. Key responsibility is to make better customer grocery shipping experiences within high quality standard and cost-to-serve operation processes/environments.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of managing stakeholders in cross-functional project experience
5+ years of developing program strategies and plans, diving execution, and influencing senior stakeholders experience
5+ years of owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
Bachelor's degree
Business level Japanese and English
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of driving process improvements experience
5+ years of defining and executing against program timeline & requirements experience
Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
