Job Description

Position Overview

We are looking for a results-driven Portfolio Finance Manager to manage a portfolio of Wind projects to be maximized and converted into appropriate revenue stream, as well as minimizing the risk for the investors. The Portfolio Finance Manager will work closely with the Japan project team and various internal functions (development, engineering, O&M, legal, finance, accounting), and support the reporting requirement to Portfolio management team at the headquarters in Chicago, USA. The successful candidate should have a strong financial background, excellent organizational skills, a formidable negotiator and a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring asset performance and recommending corrective measures.

  • Review and update of cash flow model and project budget/forecast

  • Developing strategies to maximize asset value and minimize risk factors and losses.

  • Reviewing policies and making recommendations for improvement

  • Preparing financial & investment reports to investors, lenders and senior management

  • Liaising and negotiating with local stakeholders (investor, JV partner, lender, utility, EPC, OM/asset management service provider, insurance company, local government, legal counsel, accounting/tax, auditor, broker, etc.)

  • Designing project insurance packages and determining insurance coverages and conditions, coordinating with Japanese insurance agents and the insurance department of the US parent company

  • Managing insurance contracts and directly negotiating with insurance companies and project contractors (including EPC/BOP and modules/turbine suppliers) on insurance coverages and conditions

  • Handling insured events for projects under construction and operation

  • Coordinate with the insurance department of the US parent company, Japanese insurance agents and project contractors (including EPC/BOP and modules/turbine suppliers) in relation to any insurance matters

  • Covering any other types of insurances for corporate activities and project implementation

  • Supporting the success of project acquisition/sales transactions and the formation of project finance

  • Correspondence to banks and investors and any inquiries from stakeholders

  • Arrangement and submission of documents and reporting required by investors and the lending bank after financing

  • Ensuring the compliance with all regulatory requirement and covenants under project finance

  • Promoting in-house transition of portfolio management function and build portfolio management team locally in Japan

  • Supporting senior management and contribute to the team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed

    Experience and Skills:

  • Degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, business administration or related field.

  • 5-10 years of finance manager, asset manager and/or relevant experience at a multinational company

  • Existing understanding and expertise in Financial modeling

  • Insurance contract management and negotiation experience is a must

  • Strategically minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel; very good with spreadsheets

  • Responsible, dependable, and possessing an exceptional work ethic

  • Language skill for contract reading and negotiation in Japanese and English

  • Attention to detail

  • Skilled negotiator

    Preferred Skills

  • Business level English, both written and oral

  • Experience in Wind project and other renewable energy industry, construction, or real estate development industry.

  • CFA, CTP, or CPA equivalent qualification is a plus
