ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Region 7 Business Consultant

Promotes WorkOne services and raises employer awareness of programs and resources available through the WorkOne system meet workforce needs, particularly training and adult literacy needs. Consultant will also be knowledgeable of the programs and services of partner organizations that can provide value to employers.

Collect business intelligence from employers in the region. Report to the Business Services Manager concerning workforce needs and concerns expressed by employers.

Provides business leads and insights to WorkOne Employment Specialist so that this information can be used for job seeker counseling and job search effectiveness.

Works with WorkOne Employment Counselors to 1) understand the interests and skills of job seekers so that appropriate customer placements can be made and 2) engage job seekers in job seeking preparation activities, such as mock interviews.

Collaborate with employers to determine employer hiring needs and job opening information. Effectively assist the employer recruit and select employees. Will assist the employer with utilizing the state job seeker web site, Indiana Career Connect to post jobs and to help find applicable candidates. Provide WorkOne staff with information about employer openings and hiring requirements with the goal of providing employers with applicable candidates currently in the WorkOne system.

Assist employers in utilizing training grant opportunities in those cases when the resource is appropriate for the business, including but not limited to:

  • On the Job Training (OJT)
  • Next Level Jobs Employer Training Grants
  • Apprenticeship grants

Ensure that appropriate procedures are followed, and that proper documentation is provided based on the type of grant such as but not limited to:

  • OJT Contract
  • Detailed Training Plans
  • Follow Up / Monitoring reports
  • Invoices
  • Provide reporting to Business Services Manager / WIWDB with pertinent result data

Participate in job fairs, career fairs, and other opportunities for both employers and applicants to exchange information about jobs.

  • Assist employers with scheduling job fairs in WorkOne Offices
  • Coordinate Regional Job Fairs when assigned
  • Promoting job fairs with job seekers and staff
  • Represent WorkOne at other regional events such as Job Fair, College and Career events, etc.
  • Rapid Response events as assigned
  • Provide reporting to Business Services Manager / WIWDB with pertinent result data

Promote the development of a skilled regional workforce by encouraging employers to use WorkKeys profiles and assessments leading to Career Readiness Certificates. Follow up with participating Work Keys companies to make sure profiles are completed as needed, assessments are delivered in a timely manner, and skills gap training is provided as needed.

  • Assist employers with scheduling candidates for testing
  • Provide employers with test results
  • Proctor tests when necessary
  • Assist job seekers with access to WIN software to prepare for WorkKeys
  • Provide reporting to Business Services Manager / WIWDB with pertinent result data

Educate employers about additional services available such as but not limited to:

  • Workforce Opportunity Credit (WOTC)
  • Federal Bonding Program
