JOB SUMMARY: MSI seeks a General Manager of Project Operations to be responsible for all aspects of business development and management of all Projects functions as well as administrative support procedures. Responsible for project budgets, schedule, safety and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop increased brand recognition and financial growth for MSI Tampa.
Develop plans for the control and management of all Projects accounts, Projects technician development and productivity.
Supervises compliance of employees with company objectives, operating policies, quality standards and safety.
Responsible for maintaining positive customer relationships with all existing customers and potential new customers, and for helping to instill a quality customer service philosophy in all service and administrative personnel.
Reviews current and prospective projects/accounts and furnishes pertinent field information to Vice President.
Develops and/or evaluates suggestions for improvement to Projects initiatives and maintenance techniques and methods whenever possible.
Reviews and approves plans for the control and management of all accounts, budget spending labor efficiency, material efficiency, technical engineering effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Review job performance/progress against operating plans and standards. Provide reports to subordinates on interpretation of results and approve changes in direction of plans.
Presents monthly reports on performance as requested by the Vice President.
Develops and presents matters to the Vice President which require his/her decision.
Review and approve cost control reports, cost estimates and manpower and facilities requirement forecasts.
Participates in quality association with trade/business associations that enhance the company's mission business plan.
Promote and participate in education and training opportunities that allow the company and its employees to meets stated goals, objectives and business plans.
Provides junior associates with a "role model" example of the company's business and work ethics as delineated in MSI's Mission Statement.
Coordinates with Safety Committee to insure a safe work environment on all projects.
Fiscal responsibility of all projects managed by reporting Project Mangers.
Assist Vice President in establishing budgets for the group as well as individual Project Managers.
Distribution of new projects based on Project Managers abilities, customer relationships and current work load.
Assist Vice President in facilitating project hand off meetings from pre-construction.
Schedules and facilitates project hand off meetings from Project Manager to field personnel.
Schedules pre-construction site visits with appropriate Project Mangers or Field Supervisor.
Coordinates site visits and estimating efforts of all project opportunities developed by the Account Managers in the Service Group.
Implements all Projects utilizing the MSI Project Management Processes
Insures that all projects follow the MSI Planning for Productivity module.
Schedules and assists Project Managers in presenting their productivity plan to the CEO, President, and Vice President for all projects over 500k.
Conducts annual reviews of all Project Managers.
Assists Project Managers with developing quarterly goals and reviews their progress.
Conducts close liaison and coordination with vendors, the General Contractor and other sub-contractors.
Maintains close contact with Owners and Decision Makers on Assigned Projects
Reviews 1 week and 3 week Look Ahead Schedules of assigned Projects
Conducts a WIP Review with Project Managers and submits to Vice President for final approval.
Assists Project Managers in accurately forecasting revenue.
Assists in Billings as required also monitors over and under billing.
Assists in Change Orders as required
Assists in and reviews Estimates prepared by reporting Project Managers
Sales Skills
- Assists in Relationship selling as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of two-year technical curriculum at Junior College preferred.
A minimum of 10 years experience in field operations.
A minimum of 7 years experience in estimating and bid preparation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
In-depth knowledge of HVAC&R systems and related supporting utilities.
Knowledge of local and industry codes that regulate the HVAC&R industry.
Ability to effectively manage and motivate employees.
Good Verbal and written communications skills.
Effective negotiator.
Initiates monthly billing for jobs in process.
Initiates schedule of values for job in conjunction with estimator.
Conducts bi-monthly safety meeting on jobs.
