Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a highly responsible professional position in the Volunteer Health Services Program with the following assigned duties for counties in Region 3 (Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Duval, Flagler, Hamilton, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns, Suwannee, Union, Volusia). This complex administrative, technical and consultative position requires skills to work independently in the development and implementation of the department’s volunteer programs in the assigned counties. This position has responsibility to work collaboratively with county health departments (CHD) and health care professionals external to the department to develop and coordinate volunteer provider networks within the framework of the Volunteer Health Care Provider Program (VHCPP). This position provides policy direction and program coordination for the department’s Chapter 110 Volunteer program at the CHD.

  • Supports the recruitment of health care providers to participate in VHCPP to meet identified needs. Represents the program at workshops, conferences, association meetings and other activities to recruit providers and to develop an adequate understanding of the program by the community, providers, and CHDs. Serves as a consultant for local providers and CHDs to address programmatic issues.

  • Monitors participating VHCPP providers through an administrative quality assurance program to assure compliance with program policies and procedures, and administrative rules. Monitors the department’s eligibility and referral process to ensure eligible individuals participate in the program, and the eligibility determination and referral process is documented appropriately.

  • Negotiates provider contracts and ensures appropriate license verification of health care providers.

  • Documents, trains, and provides general supervision of Chapter 110 volunteers responsible for determining the eligibility and referral of clients participating in VHCPP.

  • Maintains a database documenting health care providers and Chapter 110 volunteers participating in VHCPP.

  • Supports and assists Chapter 110 volunteer efforts in the CHDs. Provides training to CHD volunteer coordinators as required.

  • Provides periodic reports to the Director of the Volunteer Health Services Program on the status of the department’s volunteer programs.

  • Performs emergency duties as directed. Assists the CHDs in the documentation and license verification of volunteers in the event of an emergency.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned. Travel is required for 10 percent of this role.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Preferred:

  • Knowledge of public health.

  • Knowledge of descriptive statistics and statistical methodologies.

  • Knowledge of desktop automation software such as Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Ability to work on project teams in a variety of roles to accomplish objectives.

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with public and private organizations, partnerships, and programs.

  • Good listening, verbal, and writing skills. .

    Qualifications:

    Minium: At least one year of volunteer coordination with a government or non-profit organization.

    Preferred - 1-year clerical or customer service experience and Microsoft Office Suites programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

    Preferred - A bachelor’s degree from a college or university.
