We are a small local Tax and Accounting Firm.  We have been around for over 50 years. We provide tax assistance and income tax filing for current tax clients.  We also provide payroll and bookkeeping services for local businesses needing accounting assistance.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll and accounting processes, the ability to handle multiple payrolls, and excellent problem-solving skills. This role requires accuracy, time management, and the ability to work in a semi-fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process payroll accurately and efficiently for a variety of clients.
• Understand and apply payroll terminology, tax deposit schedules (including 941 payroll tax depositing), and different payroll types.
• Address and resolve payroll-related issues, including IRS letters and client inquiries.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Utilize payroll software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for payroll processing and reporting.
• Work independently and collaboratively to meet recurring deadlines.
• Operate a multi-line phone system to assist clients with payroll-related questions.
• Perform data entry with high attention to detail.
• Maintain flexibility to adapt to workload changes.
• Assist Bookkeeper with preparing bookkeeping for financial reports.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge or understanding of payroll processes.
• Experience handling multiple payrolls is a plus.
• Ability to problem-solve and handle payroll-related issues, including IRS notices.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with payroll processing is preferred but not required---paid training is provided.
