This position will join the existing tax compliance and reporting team in preparation, review and monitoring of tax compliance and reporting obligations in respect of the non-US operations of NBCUniversal International, covering 150+ entities in over 30 territories internationally, with a particular focus on the APAC region.

Key Position Responsibilities

Reporting:

  • Manage regional businesses’ compliance with US GAAP & regional tax accounting rules

  • Manage, maintain and review tax calculation templates, FIN 48 calculations and SOX 404 documentation

  • Monitor and manage variances between the tax provision and tax return for international businesses

  • Manage relationships and queries with both internal finance contacts and external service providers

  • Review and update business models (forecast financial models) and analyse their impact on worldwide group tax position

  • Manage group summaries by business line and by territory and assist with the review, analysis and consolidation of tax data required to be reported to headcompany

  • Review intercompany royalty calculations and manage impact on tax reporting and compliance

  • Preparation and analysis of Country by Country reporting data

Compliance:

  • Management of tax compliance process for APAC territories (and potentially other worldwide entities), including preparation and review of tax provisions, tax disclosures and tax returns over time sensitive timeline

  • Management and coordination of BEPS compliance including Country by Country reporting notifications

  • Responsible for managing internal tax return library and tracking tool for international businesses

  • Withholding Tax (WHT) administration and advisory – advising the business on WHT rates, obligations, clearance forms and refunds, dispute resolution in respect of customer WHT deductions and reviewing WHT language in legal agreements

  • Review and management of transfer pricing implementation, working closely with our transfer pricing team

General:

  • Ad-hoc project work including

  • management of tax audits that arise in different jurisdictions including liaising with the local business, advisors and tax authorities

  • Managing local film production issues including but not limited to setup, transfer pricing, film tax credits and statutory accounts

  • Advising the Australia group on fringe benefits tax issues

  • entity eliminations

  • group structuring

  • dividend and repatriation planning

  • mobile employee issues

  • CFC review

  • Pillar II requirements

  • Support and advise businesses on various tax issues as and when they arise

  • Work with and advise the UK and US corporate, compliance & reporting, indirect tax and transfer pricing tax team members of tax and commercial issues and initiatives arising in or related to the Asia Pacific region.

  • Assist in development of electronic tools to maximize efficiencies in tax processes

  • Supporting the wider tax team as appropriate in areas commensurate with experience

Basic Requirements:

  • At least 8+ years post-qualification corporate tax experience

  • Must have strong tax accounting skillset and experience with ability to prepare and analyse tax calculations, tax accounting and tax notes

  • Strong corporate tax compliance background with experience of large multinational groups

  • Strong knowledge of Australian tax (and other APAC territories desired)

  • Awareness of international tax issues

  • Professional qualification in accounting (CA/ACA or equivalent).

  • Strong excel skills – ability to manage and manipulate high volumes of data is an essential requirement for this role.

  • Proactive, well organized and results-oriented, with the ability to multi-task.

  • Excellent communication skills, especially in communicating tax concepts to a non-tax audience and finance teams in overseas territories.

  • Big 4 / mid-tier background / trained

Desired Characteristics:

  • Commercial experience in the Entertainment/Media sector

  • Knowledge of US GAAP tax accounting

  • Experience of SOX will be considered a plus
