Skilled work in the operation of various types of heavy equipment, Operate backhoe to expose utility breaks or to Install new utility lines. Operate end loader to back fill ditches or load trucks. Operate sand spreader to control Ice and snow on streets and parking. Grade surfaces with box blade, Drive dump truck. Operate street sweeper. Operate yard crane to load or unload large pieces of equipment, Perform related tasks as required. Service equipment and advise foreman of needed repairs. Ensure digging permits are properly completed prior to digging.\ \ Provide routine labor to support projects as assigned.

The employee in this position may be required to work overtime after 4pm, shift work, and be on a rotating standby for emergencies during non-business hours including when the university is closed and/or other events after 5pm on weekdays, weekends, and holidays when management deems necessary. The ability to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of weather will be required.\ \ Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are not for personal use.\ \ Must work safely and promote a safe work environment.

Exposed to extreme heat and cold, working around hazardous equipment. Outside in all types of inclement weather, high levels of dust and noise.

Job lifting requirements may exceed 50 pounds.\ \ Blackout Leave Periods: Landscape services has three identified blackout periods each year.
