Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking an individual to join our team for an exciting and rewarding opportunity as a Senior Communications Liaison. This position provides broad communication leadership, communications planning and project management, and media relations expertise throughout Direct Care and Treatment (DCT). This position:
Provides consultation to DCT senior leadership on the communications aspects of key projects or issues
Assesses communications needs across DCT’s main divisions, sets priorities, plans, and works with other members of the communications team to see projects through to completion
Works closely with DCT’s legislative and external relations teams to develop communications strategies and materials for effective outreach to the Legislature and key audiences, partners, and stakeholders
Develops, implements, manages and leads communications projects across several different platforms to inform the public about DCT’s programs and services, and highlight needs of patients and clients the agency serves
Provides media relations advice and coaching to senior leadership and serves as an occasional spokesperson for DCT
Please note: This position is primarily telework with a need to travel occasionally to attend meetings or visit program sites throughout Minnesota. This team is currently teleworking; however, this may change in the future with notice.
Minimum Qualifications
Four (4) years of experience developing and executing communication strategies for a business, nonprofit or government agency demonstrating the following:
Handling communications for executive level leadership
Strong writing and editing skills, using AP style and plain language
Experience writing speeches, talking points, news releases, fact sheets, presentations, reports and other materials
Experience in digital content development and management, including for the web, social media and digital marketing.
Experience managing large-scale communications projects from inception to completion, including budgeting, timeline management, and resource allocation
Ability to conceive, develop and deliver a desired message effectively and concisely.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects effectively within deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in communications for large or complex organizations.
Working knowledge of state and federal laws related to content accessibility and equal access to information.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications or related degree
