As the Education Supports Specialist, you will serve on a team responsible for policy analysis, policy development, program development and administration of Resettlement Programs Office (RPO) initiatives implemented through contracts with community partners.
This position is principally responsible for the strategic development and effective implementation of programming related to newcomer family engagement and student success across a continuum of educational opportunities, including early childhood, K-12, and post-secondary. In this role, the incumbent serves as a policy and program lead for statewide services focused on education, interagency partnerships with the Minnesota Department of Education and other state agencies, and collaborative statewide programming administered by the Resettlement Programs Office.
Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
Serveaspolicy and subject matter expertonRefugeeSocialServicesprogramming, with particular focus on education (children, youth and family engagement).
Serve as team lead for development of partnerships and programs related to educational access and opportunity for newcomer families.
Serve as team lead for education-related projects and programing.
Serve as team lead for outcomemeasurementandprogram evaluation for RPO’s education related programs and initiatives.
Serve as team lead for external consultation and stakeholder engagement related to educational access, opportunities and systems.
Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of professional experience in a human services program that demonstrates:
Knowledge of resettlement landscape and service infrastructure, locally and/or nationally.
Knowledge of educational systems, structures and resources.
Experience using automated software systems and computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite products (Adobe, Photoshop, Visio, Outlook, Word Excel, Teams, PPT, etc.) or similar software.
Experience in program development or project management.
A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Services, Education or a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional experience.
OR
A Master’s degree in Social Work, Social Services, Education or a related field may substitute for two (2) years of professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with programming of the MN DHS Resettlement Programs.
Professional experience leading programs to support positive educational outcomes for diverse populations in Minnesota.
Deep familiarity with federally administered resettlement pathways including US Refugee Admissions Program, Welcome Corps, Sponsor Circles, Private Sponsorship programs, and corresponding service structures.
Experience building and leading collaborative services.
Experience managing contracts, including budget and workplan development.
Advanced problem-solving skills.
Exceptional communication skills.
Lived refugee or immigrant experience.
Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
