This position is responsible for the implementation of strategies to effectively integrate the Agency’s compliance efforts with its daily operations, and then reporting the results of compliance activities to management. As the leader of the Compliance team, this position will provide direction for all of the Agency’s compliance activities. This position is also responsible for the Healthcare Compliance program which includes state and federal regulatory standards that are unique to healthcare organizations. Finally, this position will direct the internal audit functions for the Agency to independently appraise, report, recommend, and assist in evaluating and strengthening MDVA’s system of internal controls, risk management, financial reporting, and governance processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in public administration, law, auditing, accounting, or a related field that demonstrates the following:

  • Developing public policies and policy analysis; or

  • Providing litigation management or liability assessment involving the r ecognition of problems, their causes, evaluating alternatives, and recommending action/solution; or

  • Risk assessment mitigation or internal control development, or internal auditing and the application of federal or state laws, rules, or program policies applicable to the audit/review/investigation topic; or

  • Conducting/coordinating/directing audits and reviews, and consulting risk assessment activities.

AND

  • Experience supervising the work product of other staff.

AND

  • Knowledge of the rules, policies, and procedures related to healthcare operations, such as experience with the Compliance and Ethics Program regulations required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for skilled nursing home facilities (F-tag 895).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and/or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP).

  • License to practice law in the State of Minnesota or ability to become licensed within six months of hire.

  • Knowledge of Government Data Practices Act (MS Chapter 13) and Whistleblower Act (MS 181.932).
