Business Unit Overview

8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Senior Manager of Procurement will be responsible for leading the grain commodity procurement function with a focus on 8th Avenue’s pasta businesses managing the spend of $120M+. This person will define and execute the grains procurement strategic goals aligned with the business strategy to drive growth, margin and cash-flow improvements. Additionally, this person will be accountable for commodity risk management strategies to optimize total cost of ownership to the organization in proper consideration of grain market volatility. The role requires a high degree of business acumen and partnership across multiple manufacturing facilities to manage supplier contracts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Define Procurement strategy and drive execution excellence. Execute excellence in RFIs, RFPs, should-cost modelling, negotiation, specification optimization, contracting and performance management. Foster partnership with suppliers to create win-win environment and leverage capabilities to drive quality, service, cost, innovation and sustainability goals. Mitigate supply disruptions as the first point of contact for escalation from within the organization. Track, monitor and control spend. Engage with Manufacturing Operations to monitor and report on supplier performance, to include quality, on-time delivery, fill rates and billing accuracy. Ideate and engage with Manufacturing Operations and Research & Development to execute continuous improvement strategies. Act as the category subject matter expert to monitor commodity trends and propose commodity risk mitigation strategies to the Executive Leadership Team. Make sourcing decisions and execute strategies in accordance with 8th Avenue policies and procedures. Identify and manage the selection of suppliers. Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned by management. Drive top-tier performance across Procurement KPIs Benchmark and establish procurement KPIs (e.g., commodity risk management, cost savings, Return-on-investment, cash flow improvements, supply risk management, supplier performance management, capacity creation and supplier driven innovation) to deliver top tier performance supporting business growth, margin and cash flow expectations. Risk and Compliance Management Proactively identify procurement risks and mitigation actions. Ensure compliance to company policies (e.g., financial policies, procurement policies, confidentiality and risk management policies) and communication of policies to suppliers and stakeholders to minimize risks. Compliance to external regulations and requirements for respective categories. Performs other related duties as assigned. Competencies / Skills/ Abilities: Commodities management experience required. Proficiency with JD Edwards ERP system desired. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills. Ability to function well in a high-paced environment. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong people leadership skills, along with change management and project governance. Ability to lead and influence people. Understanding of Strategic Sourcing processes and demonstrated proficiency with e-tools such as work order management, spend analysis, and contract management systems. Willingness to travel domestically/internationally on an occasional basis.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelors’ Degree (BA/BS) from a four (4) year college or university in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration, along with 10 years of progressive procurement experience in Food / CPG industry. MBA preferred. Certification / Licenses: Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License

Physical Requirements: This position is regularly required to communicate with others, both oral and written. This position is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Travel: This position may travel up to 15% of the time.
