Description

The Specialist, Automation is an entry level position for a new college graduate. You will learn how to support and troubleshoot the production process in an Allen Bradley, Rockwell PLCs, AVEVA system, HMI and AB panel platform. You will become proficient in troubleshooting various automation communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and understands the automation integration principals in automation cascade controls between the DCS platform to the packaging equipment end devices. You will also become proficient in electrical troubleshooting with electrical prints in PLC control panel in low and high voltage.

In this role you will: Gain knowledge of packaging equipment DCS and process integrations with MES machine integration. Collaborate with engineers, maintenance tech, manufacturing personnel in support of the production process equipment work methods. Troubleshooting techniques and continuous improvement implementation. Work towards proficiency with various technologies and equipment types including print and apply, vision system, cartoners, case packer, and robotic packaging equipment. Learn efficient setup and operation of utility equipment including all aspects of mechanical, electrical, electromechanical systems such as drive, instruments, controls, servos, robots, vision, conveying manipulating and production handling equipment.

This position offers a base salary typically between $53,000 to $75,000 and is eligible for full company sponsored health and wellness benefits. Duties & Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and implements corrective action where equipment experiences performance issues.

• Provides off shift and weekend support calls as necessary.

• Identifies, determines and seeks approvals within guidelines for equipment upgrades to enhance performance and reliability.

• Supports training of production operators and supervisors on best operational practices of electro-mechanical Packaging and Labeling equipment.

• Assists and supports Packaging Engineering projects involving electro-mechanical applications relative to all facets of design, scope, performance parameters, testing and implementation.

• Performs additional duties as assigned by management, to support operations.

• Utilizes CMMS per SOP to assure proper documentation of work.

• Keeps current on new technologies impacting self-knowledge and the equipment.

• Complies with regulatory requirements relative to the EU, FDA, USDA, APHIS, OSHA as well as local and state requirements of our business.

• Ensures particular attention to cGMP requirements for modification of production equipment.

• Follows Company policy and SOP's relative to all aspects of this position including financial, environmental health and safety, training etc.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college.

• Zero to three years (0-3) or more of relevant working experience in automation process control (Manufacturing and Packaging).

Additional requirements include:

• Working knowledge of the packaging process equipment, instrumentation, and/or computerized systems typically applied to biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes is preferred.

• Detail-oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong technical writing and presentation skills.

• Ability to be flexible and manage change.

• Ability to communicate and collaborate with technical and management staff.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

• Strong analytical skills to identify potential improvement opportunities, and drive to opportunities to realization.

Eligibility Requirements :

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
