PeaceHealth is seeking a Food and Nutrition Services - Courier for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $18.59 – $28.99. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

The Food and Nutrition Courier is responsible for the transport of patient meals, event caterings and food service supplies. This role completes inventory, picks supplies, and delivers items in accordance with food safety guidelines. The courier provides stock using first in first out methods and ensures food is accurately labelled and dated. Ensures food presents well for the patient or customer and may assemble meals and caterings. Keeps accurate and detailed time and temperature logs.

Essential Functions

  • Operates a company vehicle or perambulates on assigned route in a safe manner, adhering to all safety policies and practices. Responsible for obeying all traffic laws.

  • Follows specific route schedule. Delivers meals, supplies, catering and other related goods from designated areas to hospitals and clinics. Documents food temperatures and delivery time to ensure that food safety.

  • Complies with all laws, regulations and policies pertaining to security, confidentiality and privacy of transported patient meals.

  • Handles food according to required procedures, checks for outdates, and product quality. Cleans and sanitizes coolers and distribution carts.

  • Responsible for monitoring vehicle performance and reporting maintenance problems and/or accidents immediately to leadership.

  • Responsible for fueling, regular oil changes and maintaining the exterior and interior cleanliness of the company vehicle as appropriate. Washes the exterior of the van when needed.

  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma required, or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training and experience.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years Preferred: automobile driving experience.

Credentials

  • Required: Driver's License (if route requires use of an automobile). Requires evidence of an acceptable motor vehicle driving record prior to operating a company vehicle. Standards are outlined in the PeaceHealth Driver Standards: Courier will have no type one violations in the past three years; No more than one at fault accident in the past three years; No more than two type B moving violations in the past three years, or more than two, combination of accidents and violations in the last three years. and

  • Required: Food Handlers Card - Oregon.

Skills

  • Maintenance of good personal and on-the job driving record for insurability as appropriate (Required)

  • Ability to work and operate safely in all weather conditions, including dusk, night, rain, sleet, ice and snow (Required)

  • Ability to follow traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in motor vehicle operation (Required)

  • Ability to pump fuel as appropriate (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Cooks: Continuous moving around area. Lifting: Frequent up to 22 lbs. Occasional up to 50 lbs. Occasional carrying up to 20 lbs. Frequent reaching/ bending/ stooping/ grasping. Occasional squatting/kneeling. Frequent pushing/pulling 14 lbs. sustained force with frequent stop/start. Occasional repetitive push/pull (scrubbing grill/oven).

  • Diet Rep/Aide: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.

  • Food service asst.: Continuous moving around area. Lifting: Frequent up to 12 lbs. Occasional up to 44 lbs. Occasional carrying up to 25 lbs. Frequent reaching/ bending/ stooping, grasping. Occasional squatting/kneeling. Frequent pushing/pulling 30 lbs. sustained force with frequent stop/start.

  • Stores Coord Asst: Continuous moving around area. Lifting: Frequent up to 50 lbs. Occasional up to 35 lbs. Frequent reaching/ bending/ stooping/ grasping. Occasional squatting/kneeling .

Environmental Conditions

  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.

  • Working near/around heated surfaces (oven).

  • Working near/around water/liquid.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
