General Function

The Instructor NT is a non-tenure track position with responsibilities to teach full-time and to provide appropriate service. The Instructor NT may participate in research or creative activities.

Description of Primary Duties

Teach core undergraduate interior design courses in one or more areas which may include commercial and residential design, product and material selection, space planning, digital design, and/or human-centered design.

Active participant in departmental outreach and service activities including advising interior design student organizations and/or competition teams.

Successful candidates must be committed to working with diverse student and community populations.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

An earned terminal degree or the degree required for teaching in certain disciplines is required. Potential or demonstrated teaching ability is required. A willingness to serve the academic unit, college, and the University is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.

Additional Qualifications

At least one degree in interior design, architecture, or a similar design-related field is required.

A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.

Evidence of strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Relevant industry experience (3+ years) is required.

Relevant professional credentials (e.g., NCIDQ or similar) are preferred.
