Job Description: GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for performing a variety of duties to meet the commercial services needs of business customers. Achieves sales goals as established in the annual operating plan while complying with operating policies and procedures established for the commercial services function. Maintains ongoing business relationships and develops new business from present and prospective business customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR DUTIES

Originates, prepares and presents loan requests for presentation to the Officers Loan Committee or Bank Board of Directors (from start to finish). Provides direct service to commercial customers of the bank with respect to deposit, loan, and other miscellaneous products and services. Identifies business opportunities and refers customers to other appropriate personnel including TSIS, consumer loans and ACH. Assists and supports the offices in servicing commercial customers while maintaining ownership of the overall account relationship. Solicits new business from present and prospective customers; maintains ongoing business relationships with present customers in order to take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities. Participates in the development of new deposit products and changes to existing products. Jointly establishes sales objectives with assigned Chief Lending Officer in accordance with the strategic plan. Prepares and maintains accurate records of all customer service calls made and meetings held with present and prospective customers. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of local, state and federal government programs such as; Small Business Administration, Rural Development Agency and New York States Link Deposit Program, as well as Local Development Corporations and New York Business Development Corporation to reduce the Banks credit risk funding new or expanding businesses. Solicits other financial institutions to buy and sell loan participations.

DUTIES SUPPORTING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank commercial and retail products and services in order to ascertain customer needs and to sell in conjunction with these needs. Maintains a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures that impact commercial services. Represents the Bank at various civic, charitable, educational and social affairs in order to develop and expand base of contacts and create a positive image of the Bank. These events are often held after traditional working hours and are an essential part of the lenders business development activities. Often works closely with counsel to review loan documentation and to keep abreast of legal matters. Stays informed of policies, procedures and regulatory updates and changes impacting the commercial lending function. Maintains confidentiality while conducting all assigned tasks. Maintains a working knowledge of all applicable software and computer systems. Provides periodic reports to the Chief Lending Officer as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
