We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Assistant for our back office. The ideal candidate will utilize Medent as the EMR system for patient records, manage medications, and update the computer system for various requests. You will welcome patients, prep patient charts, handle scheduling, and support patient inquiries about insurance coverage. Additionally, you will assist with patient check-in and check-out procedures, maintain patient records, and support healthcare providers to ensure smooth operations.
Responsibilities
Utilize Medent as EMR for patient records
Log medications and reconcile with pharmacy for medications
Update computer system for MRI, CAT scan, and other requests
Complete return to gym and sports notes
Put script in EMR and call facilities for STATs
Welcome patients and ensure they feel comfortable and informed
Prep patient charts ahead of scheduled appointments
Confirm and print out necessary patient forms ahead of visits
Handle calls for scheduling and rescheduling appointments
Support fax machine operations between offices and add files to patient records
Schedule appointments with patients face-to-face when leaving previous appointments
Verify patient insurance coverage and collect copayments
Assist patients with check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring all necessary forms are completed
Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy
Process insurance claims, create invoices, and manage patient billing
Provide patients with information on treatments, medications, and post-procedure care
Work with healthcare providers to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient office operations
Assist with patient examinations, take vital signs, and prepare patients for procedures
Essential Skills
Experience in medical assisting
Knowledge of EMR systems (Medent preferred)
Understanding of insurance coverages
Ability to support patient questions about copay, in-network, out-of-network, and referrals
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience as a Medical Assistant
Certification preferred but not required; expired certifications are acceptable
Insurance knowledge from previous roles is a plus
Work Environment
You will work a 40-hour week with shifts from Monday to Friday, either 7:30 am-4:00 pm or 9:00 am-5:00 pm, with one evening shift per week from 12:00 pm-8:00 pm. Schedules will be provided in advance and will be routine. You will be required to cover all sites, including Randolph, Sparta, Hackettstown, Morristown, and Cedar Knolls. Front desk coverage will be staggered, typically working two days from 7:30 am-4:00 pm, two days from 9:00 am-5:00 pm, and one day from 12:00 pm-8:00 pm. Consultants must stay until the last patient leaves. You will interact with 20-40 patients per day, depending on the provider, with each patient interaction lasting approximately 15 minutes. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
