ICU Medical Senior Buyer in Southington, Connecticut

Title: Senior Buyer /Position is 100% onsite in Southington CT./ FLSA: Exempt * *Position Summary *// The Senior Buyer will be primarily responsible for the purchase of materials and services to support and maintain consistent output within the manufacturing operation. Plan, perform and administer purchasing activities to ensure that all assigned contracts, commodities, components, parts and materials are provided in a timely manner. Work with all levels of management to define and resolve issues relating to value, quality, total cost and impact on the operation. * * *Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Manage and monitor open orders to ensure raw materials, equipment, parts, supplies and services are delivered on time to support uninterrupted production. * Measure and monitor supplier performance, inventory levels and key metrics. Develop plans to drive improvements, track efforts, and report out. Communicate gaps to the business and the supplier. * Define, interpret and communicate material/service requirements to suppliers. Escalate issues as required in a timely manner. * Resolve receiving and/or accounts payable issues. * Review requests, communicate with suppliers and plant operations, identify suitability/availability of items/services, compare specifications and review alternatives. Heavy focus on cost management. * Provide procurement activities for projects involving highly technical specifications and complex evaluation processes. * Review purchase requisitions, drawings and specifications for completeness, accuracy and compliance with established procedures and policies. Accurately communicate these requirements to suppliers. * Drive efforts to right size inventory, reduce supplier lead times and improve responsiveness and flexibility. * Prepare purchase orders, process raw material requirements, and expedite follow-up and receiving of materials, supplies and services. * Review defective or unacceptable goods/services, determine source of defect and take corrective action. * Seek methods to improve procurement processes and acquisition costs. * Perform other duties as requested, assigned or directed. * * Knowledge & Skills * Demonstrated knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures in the purchasing field. * Strong organizational skills; high level of attention to detail. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to prioritize key business objectives and respond quickly to changes. * Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook. * Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience * Must be at least 18 years of age * A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Business, Supply Chain Management or a relevant technical discipline. * Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or other materials management area. * Knowledge of Materials Requirement Planning. * ERP System experience; Oracle a strong plus. Work Environment * This is largely a sedentary role. * This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. * May have exposure to manufacturing and warehouse; requires compliance with safety and GMP protocols when in those areas. * May occasionally need to move and lift objects of up to 20 pounds. * Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
