GFL Industries Pre-Employment and Recruitment Specialist in Southfield, Michigan

This is a hybrid work schedule. The Recruiting and Pre-Employment Specialist is responsible for supporting multiple departments by playing a critical role associated with the pre-employment screening process. Responsibilities include providing a positive candidate experience, various administrative tasks, and knowledge of Federal DOT and Company requirements. The position will require the ability to provide quality work while multi-tasking and maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Key Responsibilities: * Provide administrative support to the HR, Talent, Safety and field operations teams * Ensure timely and accurate data entry such as documenting notes, updating statuses in the recruiting tool, updating spreadsheets, and completing weekly reports * Review pre-employment screening reports, escalate to appropriate department when necessary * Order background checks, drug screenings, and other required pre-employment screening reports * Create a positive candidate experience by remaining attentive and responsive during the recruiting and pre-employment process * Timely and appropriate communication with internal and external customers * Communication with third party vendors to obtain results, when necessary * Ensure all searches comply with Company policies and procedures and with employment laws and regulations * Adherence to all DOT and FMCSA regulations and standards * Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws as well as current human resources best practices * Cross-train functionality to assist our recruiters, when necessary * Performs other job-related duties as assigned Requirements: * High School Diploma or GED required * One (1) or more years experience of high-volume administrative, human resources, or safety support * Knowledge of DOT regulations strongly preferred * Experience maintaining confidential files and reports * Microsoft Office experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers * Strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity, trust, and maintain confidentiality * Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment or as an individual contributor * Excellent analytical, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills * Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports and associated documents * Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions * Ability to prioritize workload and meet time sensitive deadlines * Flexibility to accept and adapt to change as well as the commitment to seek continuous improvement * Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operation, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service * Ability to follow all company safety policies and procedures Physical/Mental Demands: * Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, talk and hear. * Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
