Associate Scientist - Functional Genomics
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Amgen Functional Genomics organization is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to join the research team at our facility in South San Francisco. This Associate Scientist will join an enthusiastic, fast-paced team to provide key sample, reagent, and experimental supports to advance target discovery and progression across Amgen’s therapeutic areas.
Responsibilities:
Prepare key tissues and samples for genomics and proteomics assays
Culture in vitro models including cell lines and organoids for discovery efforts
Prepare and implement molecular and biological tools for experimental studies
Contribute to profiling experiments, including transcriptomics, proteomics, imaging, and cytometry-based assays
Make actionable decisions as a technical expert
Collaborate closely with other team members on experimental design and execution
Present research findings at internal team meetings you

Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree with 1 year experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, or related fields or
Bachelor’s degree with 3 years experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, or genomics or related fields
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with cell culture and tissue preparation
Demonstrated experience with sample prep for genomics and/or proteomics
Experiences with cell biology tools such as antibody- based enrichment, cell fractionation, or membrane bound protein preparation
Experience with molecular biology such as CRISPR, overexpression constructs, lentivirus, etc
Experience with profiling assays including transcriptomics, imaging, and cytometry
Proficiency with experimental design
Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to thrive in a cross-functional setting

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
