JOB SUMMARY The Sr. Product Engineer is a leader of the Product Development Team and focuses on the product invention, design, development and improvement of new and existing transmission products. They will be responsible for providing engineering guidance in all aspects of planning, control and implementation activities required to carry out product development projects from initiation through to production release with major emphasis on analyzing designs and product testing. This is an on-site position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Generate new and revised product ideas or applications through cooperation with Product Management, Sales, Manufacturing Engineering, and Marketing. Assist Product Management, Sales, and Marketing in identifying applicable product requirements based on market, engineering, and/or customer requirements. Create and implement project plans which serve to direct, coordinate, and control activities of an engineering project resulting in effective and efficient development of products from design concept through release to production. Analyze product concepts in terms of features, function, performance, reliability, maintainability, cost, and product worthiness. Participate with other project team members to select those which merit further consideration. Create product design concepts which fulfill market, engineering, and/or customer requirements using engineering models, sketches, and written descriptions. Complete detailed product designs by preparing and directing the preparation of models, layouts, and detail drawings and by completing engineering calculations necessary to ensure that the product design conforms to product function, performance, cost, life, and other design requirements. Develop, evaluate, and verify product designs by specifying and conducting meaningful testing, recording, simulation, analyzing, and reporting results of the development, test, and evaluation activity to ensure the designs function as required. Provide information for, direct, and assist the preparation of final design documentation required for the Engineering release of product designs to production. Provide technical support to Assembly, Purchasing, Sales, Service, Product Management, Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering by recognizing the need for product revisions as it relates to transmissions and related products. Define, analyze, and implement solutions to provide continuation engineering support to current product lines when placed in service and throughout the life of the product. Partner with Sales, Service, Manufacturing Engineering, and Purchasing by participating in decisions on supply chain issues, quality issues, and manufacturing feasibility.
