SAP DevOps Build and Support Engineer in Sofia, Bulgaria

What you’ll do
Interested in building and supporting a high-productivity PaaS (Platform as a Service) for thousands of customers? The bigger team provides Platform as a Service and embedded Core Services for Cloud Foundry landscapes of the SAP Business Technology Platform. Develop, deploy and maintain the corresponding services running in a cloud environment are core responsibilities of the team. The team practices agile development methods, pair programming, Software Craftmanship, GitOps, Test-Driven-Development and works in an environment with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery. Monitoring and Observability are additional core DevOps practices focused on in the team.
Own and govern the Build process for an NixOS / Nix based Docker/OCI Image including but not limited to:
Automation to build and release a new image
Artifacts repositories contents
Compliance processes
Own custom build packages repository’s structure, content and intake process
Review and act as Gatekeeper for contributions by Development teams
Consult Development teams in case they need assistance/deeper knowledge how to use the framework or implement a change
Troubleshoot issues, provide practical solutions to reported bugs, and continuously adapt to the evolving technological landscape · Monitor and support the development incident queues
Address and resolve customer cases
Collaborate and communicate with the Development teams, Product Support and Customers
Suggest and implement improvements based on customer feedback and incident analysis
Facilitate knowledge transfer within the teams and contribute to internal knowledge base
Troubleshoot issues, provide practical solutions to reported incidents, and continuously adapt to the evolving technological landscape
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree. Alternatively, high school diploma in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related subject
Experience building software from source code
Experience with git source control management, build and delivery infrastructure
Functional programming experience
Experience in network technology (TCP/IP protocols, DNS, OSI model, routing etc. especially in the context of Unix-like operating systems)
Experience with different tools/services in Linux Operating Systems that make up the OS apart from the Kernel e.g. systemd, package managers (apt, dnf, etc.)
Experience with Docker/OCI containers, image building and release procedures
3 years of experience working with Linux/Unix based systems
3 years of experience in Technical Support, Software Development, IT or Quality Assurance
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven experience with Knowledge Management strategies and multi-channel customer support (Chat, Virtual sessions, etc.)
Fluency in English
Excellent communication skills (mail, phone and face-to-face)
Team player passionate about own’s work and impact, self-starter who contributes to a positive atmosphere in the team
What gives you an advantage:
Experience coding in Python, Ruby, BASH, Haskel or similar functional languages
CI/CD best practices, automation environments, IaC (Infrastructure as Code) concepts and tools knowledge like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Terraform, Vault, etc.
Experience with cloud development, distributed systems, and cloud platforms such as SAP BTP, AWS, Azure, GCP or Alibaba Cloud
NixOS ecosystem knowledge gives you extra points
Another bonus is involvement in open-source development
