We are currently looking for a Construction Technician to work in our Slaughters, KY location.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Construction Technician will work closely with E & C department personnel, various PMs, CMs, field operations personnel, compliance groups and 3rd party personnel. This position shall provide leadership and perform safety sensitive inspection tasks related to working on and around in-service pipeline / station facilities, facility tie-in process, complete all required documentation for assigned tasks, receive material, ensure materials are on site and correctly installed. Assist Construction/Project Manager with developing comprehensive Job Plan.
This position will perform inspection duties, including serving as Chief Inspector on various types of projects while assisting in selection, onboarding, and training of 3rd party personnel.
This position will be responsible for providing leadership on assigned maintenance pigging and In-Line Inspection (ILI) projects, including acting as Boardwalk’s on-site field representative in coordinating with Field Operations, Gas Control, ILI Vendors, and all support contractors to assure safe and successful pig runs.
The construction technician will work closely with Project Managers, Field Operations and other Company departments in planning and executing safe, successful, compliant ILI runs meeting all company, regulatory, and professional requirements while achieving targets for safety, budget, schedule, and completion documentation. This position will assure compliance is met or exceeded for all applicable company, local, state and federal policies and procedures while ensuring timely preparation and distribution of all required project documentation.
The successful candidate will reside within BWP system and will travel as required across the entire Boardwalk system. The Construction Technician is often expected to work with minimum supervision and may be required to work extended hours as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
The job requires long days, possibly 6-7 days per week and the person must be able to lift 50 lbs as well as walk long distances in all weather conditions.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
Has at least 5 years’ experience in Natural Gas and Liquids Transportation
Knowledge of running and controlling internal inspection tools
Able to read valve maps, flow charts, and P&ID diagrams
Able to travel up to 90% of the time
Strong work ethic
Natural gas industry and pipeline facility construction experience
Good oral and written communication skills
Good computer skills
Ability to read, interpret and implement BWP construction specs, contract documents, drawings, alignment sheets, valve maps, landowner line lists, BWP O & M manuals, etc.
Analytical approach to technical problems
Sound critical and economic thinking skills
Ability to maintain good working relationships with all internal and external stake holders
Strong commitment to personal and team safety
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
BS in related field
Welding background
Familiar with DOT192,195, FERC, OSHA and API 1104 regulations
Experience in cost estimating and scheduling projects
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word
Be able to read construction drawings, alignment sheets and valve ID maps
Can plan and execute an ILI project including complete all paperwork
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High School Diploma
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
B.S. in related Field
