Amazon’s Devices & Services Design Group (DDG) is seeking a talented and passionate Sr. UX Researcher to join our growing design and research studio. The Sr. UXR will apply deep domain knowledge and experience in Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology to significantly impact our business by informing the design of our newest and most complex digital experiences. Key job responsibilities
Use your knowledge of Human Factors, cognitive science, and experimental design to lead research initiatives that directly inform the design of our most advanced and complex experiences.
Help product teams and leadership determine the right research questions to ask.
Use your communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
Define and execute (and, as necessary, invent) research methods appropriate to the questions at hand, including but not limited to field research, lab studies, remote testing, biometric testing, and A-B tests.
Provide focused, insightful, and actionable findings by quickly and thoroughly analyzing a wide range of primary and secondary data types.
Translate insights into measurable customer experience outcomes aligned to business goals.
Work with design, product management, engineering, and marketing partners to develop innovative end-to-end solutions that address top outcomes. Iteratively design and test these solutions until outcomes are achieved or hypotheses are proven wrong.
Advance the development of insight-based knowledge management frameworks used to drive decision-making and prioritization of investments.
About the team
The Amazon Devices and Services Design Group (DDG) is a multidisciplinary design team that is responsible for the UX of Echo Family Devices, Alexa Mobile, Fire TV, Fire Tablets and more. DDG’s mission is to bring to life delightful, easy-to-use, and high value experiences for our customers.
Basic Qualifications
7+ years of proven success leading customer focused research projects resulting in the delivery of world-class experiences with measurable business impact.
A BS or equivalent degree in Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Human Factors, or equivalent.
Hands-on experience with a full range of Human Factors methods and tools, including allocation of function and biometric assessment.
Broad UX research and analysis skills, (e.g., designing, conducting, and analyzing data generated though a range of research methods.)
Advanced knowledge of statistical methods.
A portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (e.g., study plans, reports).
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Degree (e.g. MS or PhD in Human Factors, Experimental, or Cognitive Psychology).
Research experience involving technically complex, and highly advanced consumer product interfaces.
Self-starter who possesses flexibility to work in a fast-changing environment and ambiguous situations.
Experience incorporating research with agile software development.
Ability to meet ambitious deadlines and deliver high-quality work on schedule, including quickly turning around study plans and reports.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and good business judgment.
Proven history of having worked across cross-functional teams and functions.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
