Blue Origin is self-funding rapid development of multiple in-space flight systems - over a range of sizes, propellant types, and technical challenge. This position resides within the Software and Integration Engineering organization, in the Engines Business Unit. As a technical lead within a group of hardworking engineers, you will lead the overall transition of the cross-engine programs from low-rate development, to cost effective high-rate production for the avionics and control subsystem. This is an absolutely critical gate to reducing the cost of access to space. Your responsibility will span developing and implementing plans and procedures, for integrating and validating engine controller hardware and software. To be successful in this, you will be required to evaluate overall program health, identify and manage associated risks, and integrate across multiple disciplines and business units. This position includes supporting multiple responsible engineers for the control system components (hardware, software, harnessing, instrumentation, valves, etc.) to facilitate successful integration and testing. You will be a lead within the engine Avionics and Control Systems Integration and Test team, responsible for the integration, verification, and testing of controller sub-system. Responsibilities: Perform and lead others in the development of specific project plans, establishing best practices/processes for the Integration team, making technical trade-offs, managing risks, tracking execution, and resolving blocking issues Proactively work in a matrixed organization, to enable successful transition of engine build through the entire lifecycle, with an ultimate goal of high rate, sustainable, production Lead the establishment of tooling, equipment and software that supports high-rate production and acceptance testing of engines Participate in program review boards (e.g., Risk and Opportunity Management, Engineering Review, Change Control, etc.) Work inter-dependently with other leaders to drive progress at the organizational level Use your technical judgement to select methods and techniques best suited for the solution, optimally balancing risk, technical viability, and producibility To be successful in this position, attention to detail is a must, able to balance multiple technical issues, with a demonstrated knowledge of engineering release / configuration management, and fundamentals of engineering design using aerospace materials and advanced manufacturing processes Mentor and educate Blue Origin employees on engineering processes and methods Partner with our entire team, not just design engineers, but manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, and technicians, in developing and manufacturing rocket engines supporting all Blue Origin vehicle programs Qualifications: Passion for our mission: Millions of people livin
