Job Summary The Senior Relationship Manager is responsible for developing a calling plan to maintain and grow existing relationships and is responsible for developing new relationships that meet WaFd's client selectivity and risk appetite. The Senior Relationship Manager has had proven success in independently winning new relationships (credit and non-credit) and negotiating terms with minimal assistance. Senior Relationship Managers are expected to partner with the appropriate commercial banking colleagues (Loan Coordinators, Credit Analysts) to develop and maintain credit relationships with the guidance of Credit Administration and the Regional Director. Senior Relationship Managers work closely with Treasury Relationship Managers to grow and service the non-credit needs of commercial real estate clients. This position develops and manages commercial real estate loan accounts which meet established lending and client selectivity requirements and provide maximum profitability to the Bank with a minimum of risk. A Senior Relationship Manager has a proven ability to attract and retain quality clients and develop complex relationships that require a high degree of skill and banking acumen (e.g., strong negotiating skills, and the ability to provide/offer complex treasury solutions), along with leadership traits and the ability to effectively mentor teammates/team members. Engages in business development activities and solicitation of new business prospects for the Commercial Real Estate team; actively involved in instilling and maintaining a positive sales environment through education of the Bank's products and services; maintains active prospecting effort, including identification, qualification and calling; investigates and follows up on significant changes in status of existing customers; consistently balances prospecting efforts and quality customer maintenance responsibilities; meets with customers to discuss needs and outline appropriate WaFd services; resolves customer concerns or problems as necessary. Works with Commercial Real Estate teams to ensure that all portfolio management responsibilities are well documented and maintained in accordance with management expectations. Ensures that all proper due diligence is performed and collects and analyzes financial and related data to determine the credit worthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request. Establishes, and negotiates as necessary, the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, collateral requirements, repayment method and schedule. Represents the Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank's image and develop additional business. Reinforces the application of superior client service through his or her own example, along with appropriate follow-through with involved clients and employees.
